How Does a Hydraulic Gear Pump Work?
An external hydraulic gear pump works as follows: a drive gear (usually driven by a motor) rotates an idler gear in the opposite direction. When the gears rotate, fluid trapped between the gear teeth between the house bore and outside of the gears moves towards the outlet side as opposed to the inlet.
